AG Odisha retain East Zone cricket title

Host AG Odisha, comprising half-a-dozen Ranji Trophy players, beat AG West Bengal in the final by two wickets to retain the trophy in the East Zone Audit & Accounts Cricket Tournament at Railway Stadium here today.

Bibhudutta Panda starred in the Odisha win, hitting a breezy 55 and picking up two wickets. Both Odisha and West Bengal qualified for the All-India Audit & Accounts Cricket Tournament to be played at different grounds in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar from June 2 to 5.

Altogether eight teams would vie for the trophy. Other six teams in the fray include AG Rajkote, AG Ahmedabad (bowe West Zone); AG Punjab, AG Haryana (both North Zone); AG Andhra Pradesh and AG Karnataka (both South Zone).

BRIEF SCORE (East Zone final): AG West Bengal 186/10 in 40 overs (U Mukherjee 91, George Paul 24; Bibhudutta Panda, Basant Mohanty, Payas Ranjan Sinha each 2 wkts) lost to AG Odisha 187/8 in 39 overs (Bibhudutta Panda 55, Govind Poddar 30; George Paul, Arup Tripathy each 2 wkts).
